As a Professor of Christian Studies and the Janey S. Briscoe Chair of Religion and Life in the College of Christian Studies, Dr. Hood enjoys teaching students and guiding the next generation of ministers. Originally from the Netherlands, Dr. Hood began her career as a trained medical biotechnological engineer before transitioning into theological education. Her global perspective is shaped by extensive travel, living and teaching across three continents, and serving as a missionary in Indonesia for two years.
Dr. Hood teaches New Testament courses, Old Testament courses, Intercultural Studies (Missions), Greek, and Biblical Interpretation. Innovative teaching and research are among just a few of her many areas of interest. The Hood family has served and taught in various ministry areas. They have a big heart for dachshunds as well.
Dr. Hood is the Program Coordinator for Intercultural Studies at 91探花, the former chair of the Academic Teaching and Biblical Studies Unit for the annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, and the former president of the Southwest Commission on Religious Studies. She has published and presented in various areas (see CV). She also serves as an adjunct PhD supervisor at the B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary, where she guides new scholars in their pursuit of their areas of research.
